Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Week is an annual initiative
coordinated by Residential College Support Unit (RCSU) of Universiti
Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in collaboration with Health, Safety and
Environment Department as well as Corporate Services Department of
UTP. This event is aimed to raise awareness of the problems on health,
safety and environment issues for UTP student and staffs. The solutions
available to tackle these problems is conveyed by having the HSE WEEK as
a platform to promote the benefits of quality health surveillance in dealing
with the ill environment exposures also promoting safety precautions as a
knowledge forfuture engineers and technologists of UTP graduates.
The history of first HSE WEEK was in March 2008 and the second
time HSE WEEK was conducted in February and March 2009 while the
third time HSE WEEK was conducted on March 2010. The success in
addressing national issues of Health, Safety and Environment through HSE
WEEK provides a practical and applicable approach by students of UTP.
HSE WEEK was hosted again by RCSU in 2011, with the same objectives of
creating HSE awareness among students and staffs of UTP.
The main objective is to educate UTP students and staffs on the
crucial of implementing HSE which indirectly, explains the science behind
HSE concepts in relation with facilities usage and safety. Furthermore, HSE
WEEK is an effective tool in achieving one of the obligations each
institution or company has towards their members and employees, which is
to emphasize on how imperative HSE is and how to uphold HSE policy in
each situation.
